AZO UTI test strips, 3 count at-home urinary tract infection test
AZO UTI Test Strips are an at-home urine test that checks for leukocytes (white blood cells) and nitrite, two markers associated with a urinary tract infection. This pack has 3 individually wrapped strips so you can test when symptoms start.
Hold a strip in your urine stream for 1 to 2 seconds, then match the pads to the color chart on the foil pouch. Nitrite is read at 1 minute and leukocytes at 2 minutes. AZO suggests testing with morning urine after at least 4 hours without urinating.
This is a screening test for urine only, and results may be false. A negative result does not rule out a UTI, and testing during your period is not recommended. If symptoms persist or results do not match how you feel, contact a healthcare professional.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
What does it test for?
Leukocytes (white blood cells) and nitrite in urine. AZO says using both together is more reliable than nitrite alone. It does not test for STDs, HIV, cancer, protein, yeast or sugar.
How do I use a strip?
Hold one strip in your urine stream for 1 to 2 seconds, then compare the test pads with the color blocks on the foil pouch. Read nitrite at 1 minute and leukocytes at 2 minutes, and ignore color changes after 3 minutes.
When is the best time to test?
AZO recommends morning urine, after at least 4 hours without urinating, so bacteria have time to convert nitrate to nitrite.
Can a negative result still mean a UTI?
Yes. AZO says a UTI is possible with a negative result, for example if urine was not held for at least 4 hours, diet is low in nitrate, or you are taking antibiotics. If symptoms persist, contact a healthcare professional.
What can affect the result?
Dyes and substances that discolor urine (such as riboflavin and phenazopyridine, the ingredient in AZO Urinary Pain Relief), tetracycline, vitamin C over 500 mg in 24 hours, urine pH of 8.0 or higher, and menstrual traces. Testing during your period is not recommended.
How do I store the strips?
Store dry at 59 to 86 F (15 to 30 C) out of direct sunlight, do not refrigerate, and keep each strip in its foil pouch until use. Do not touch the pads or use past the expiration date.
Is this for diagnosis?
No. AZO states results may be false and to consult a physician before making medical decisions. Keep out of reach of children.
