Microlife NC 150 non-contact forehead thermometer with color-coded display
The Microlife NC 150 is an infrared forehead thermometer that reads temperature without touching the skin. Point it at the center of the forehead from no more than 5 cm (about 2 inches), press START, and a long beep signals the result after about 3 seconds.
The large backlit display glows green for readings below 99.5 F (37.5 C) and red at or above that, with 10 short beeps as a fever reminder. It stores the last 30 readings with date and time, shows Fahrenheit or Celsius, and has an object mode for surfaces such as a baby bottle.
It runs on two AAA batteries. For best results, remove hair, sweat or dirt from the forehead and let the patient and thermometer sit in similar room conditions for 30 minutes. Results are not a diagnosis and do not replace advice from a physician.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
How far from the forehead do I hold it?
Aim at the center of the forehead from no more than 5 cm (about 2 inches). Remove hair, sweat or dirt from the spot first, then press START and keep the tracking light on the center of the forehead until the long beep.
What do the green and red display colors mean?
The backlight turns green for 5 seconds when the reading is below 37.5 C (99.5 F) and red for 5 seconds when it is 37.5 C (99.5 F) or higher. A red reading also triggers 10 short beeps.
Can I switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius?
Yes. With the unit off, hold START for 5 seconds, then press START to choose F or C.
What else can it measure?
Slide the mode switch to object mode to read surface temperatures from 0.1 to 99.9 C (32.2 to 211.8 F), such as milk in a baby bottle or bath water surface.
Does it replace seeing a doctor?
No. The manual states the result is not a diagnosis and does not replace a physician's consultation. If a reading seems unusually low or does not match symptoms, repeat it after 15 minutes or check with another core body temperature method.
Are there conditions that affect a reading?
Yes. The manual says the patient and thermometer should be in similar room conditions for at least 30 minutes, and the patient should not eat, drink or exercise beforehand or be measured right after nursing. Avoid high humidity. Cooler skin during the early stage of a fever can also give a low surface reading.
What powers it?
Two AAA alkaline batteries, supplied with the device. The manual cites about 2,000 measurements per set of new batteries.
