The Littmann Cardiology IV is a diagnostic stethoscope with a two-sided chestpiece that offers an open or closed bell and tunable diaphragms. Light pressure brings out low-frequency sounds and firmer pressure brings out high-frequency sounds, with no need to flip the chestpiece.

Littmann states the chestpiece is 40% larger with a bell 60% deeper than the Classic III, and the dual-lumen tubing removes the rubbing noise of traditional double tubes. The tubing is latex-free and cleans with 70% isopropyl alcohol.
