Description

Oma Sense portable baby movement monitor by Levana

The Oma Sense is a wearable baby movement monitor that clips to your baby's clothing and checks abdominal movement every 80 milliseconds without touching the skin. It uses no Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or app.

If no movement is detected for 15 seconds, it vibrates and flashes to stimulate the baby. If movement does not return within 5 seconds, an audible alarm sounds. It runs on a CR2450 coin cell that is included in the box.

Levana states it is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose or prevent any condition, including SIDS. It is for ages 0 to 6 months, on a motionless bed or cot only, and does not replace supervision or safe sleep practices.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a medical device?

No. The manufacturer, Levana, states it is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, monitor, prevent or treat any disease, including SIDS. It does not replace caregiver supervision.

How do the alerts work?

If no abdominal movement is detected for 15 seconds, it vibrates and flashes to try to stimulate the baby. If movement does not return within 5 more seconds, an emergency alarm sounds. Check on your baby immediately whenever the alarm sounds.

What age is it for?

0 to 6 months. Stop using it once your baby begins rolling onto the belly or fiddling with the monitor.

Where does it go and where can I use it?

Place it above the navel, centered on the belly. Use it only with the baby on a motionless bed or cot, not in a car seat, stroller, swing or other mobile carrier, and not while co-sleeping.

What battery does it use?

One Panasonic CR2450 3V coin cell, user replaceable, with a solid red light for low battery. Levana gives about 30 days of life in its FAQ and up to 60 days on its spec sheet.

What are the safety warnings for the battery?

A swallowed button cell can cause serious internal burns. Keep batteries away from children, dispose of used ones immediately, and seek medical help if one may have been swallowed.

Does it need Wi-Fi or an app?

No. It has no Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and needs no app. Do a self-test before each use as described in the Quick Start Guide.
