Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
Do batteries come with it?
Omron's manual lists the contents as the monitor, arm cuff, instruction manual and quick start guide, so batteries are not listed. It needs 4 AA batteries.
Does it connect to a phone?
No. The BP7100 has no wireless connection and shows readings on its LCD.
How many readings does it store?
Up to 14 readings. When memory is full the oldest is deleted. You can delete all stored values at once but not individually.
What cuff size does it take?
The included cuff fits upper arms 9 to 17 in (22 to 42 cm). The monitor works with 7 to 17 in arms using Omron's optional smaller cuff.
What do the irregular heartbeat and movement symbols mean?
The irregular heartbeat symbol appears when an irregular rhythm is detected 2 or more times during a measurement. If it shows with your results, Omron recommends consulting your physician. The movement symbol appears if you move during a measurement; remove the cuff, wait 2 to 3 minutes and measure again.
What if my systolic pressure is above 210 mmHg?
Omron's manual describes holding the START/STOP button to inflate 30 to 40 mmHg higher than your expected systolic. The monitor will not inflate above 299 mmHg.
Who should not use it?
It is for adults at home. Omron says not to use it on infants, toddlers, children or people who cannot express themselves, on an injured arm or an arm under medical treatment, or while on an IV drip or blood transfusion. Do not use it near MRI, CT or high frequency surgical equipment, or in oxygen rich environments. It is contraindicated for ambulatory use and for use on aircraft. Omron says to consult your physician before using it if you have common arrhythmias such as atrial or ventricular premature beats or atrial fibrillation, arterial sclerosis, poor perfusion, diabetes, pregnancy, pre-eclampsia or renal disease. Never adjust medication based on readings. It has not been validated for use on pregnant patients.
