Description
Upper arm monitor with AFib screening and Bluetooth
The Omron Platinum BP5465 is an upper arm blood pressure monitor that measures systolic, diastolic and pulse rate and flashes a symbol if it detects the possibility of AFib during a reading. Readings can sync by Bluetooth to the compatible OMRON app.
TruRead takes 3 readings in a row and shows the average, and the monitor stores 100 readings for each of 2 users. The Wide-Range D-Ring cuff fits upper arms 9 to 17 in (22 to 42 cm). It is a screening aid only and is not intended for the diagnosis, treatment or management of AFib.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
How does the AFib detection work?
The monitor analyzes pulse pressure wave data during your blood pressure measurement and, if it detects a possibility of AFib, flashes a symbol on the display. Omron describes this as a home screening feature for the possibility of AFib only. The manual says readings are not displayed when a possibility of AFib is detected, because blood pressure and pulse measured during AFib cannot generally be relied on.
Does it replace a doctor's diagnosis?
No. Omron states the feature is not intended to notify on every episode of AFib, and no alert does not mean AFib is absent. It will not detect other arrhythmias or a heart attack, and the monitor is not intended for the diagnosis, treatment or management of AFib. The monitor has not been validated for patients with AFib.
What is TruRead mode?
TruRead automatically takes 3 readings in a row and shows the average. You choose the gap between readings: 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 60 seconds or 2 minutes. The default is 30 seconds. TruRead is not available in guest mode.
How many people can use it?
It stores readings for 2 users, up to 100 readings each. Guest mode takes a single measurement for someone else without saving it. The OMRON app can hold more history than the monitor.
What cuff size does it take?
The included Wide-Range D-Ring cuff fits upper arms 9 to 17 in (22 to 42 cm) around. An optional 7 to 9 in cuff is sold separately by Omron.
How does it connect to my phone?
Turn on Bluetooth on your phone, install the compatible OMRON app, and follow the pairing steps in the app. Keep the monitor within 16 ft (5 m) of your phone. Once paired, readings transfer after each measurement.
Who should not use it?
Omron says it is not intended for people with an implanted pacemaker or defibrillator, people who are pregnant, or anyone under 22 years of age. Omron says it is intended for adults. It should not be used on infants, toddlers, children or people who cannot express themselves, on an injured arm or an arm under medical treatment, or while on an IV drip or blood transfusion. Do not use it near MRI, CT or high frequency surgical equipment, in oxygen rich environments, or while moving (it is not intended for ambulatory use). Omron says to consult your physician before using it if you have common arrhythmias, arterial sclerosis, poor perfusion, diabetes, pregnancy, pre-eclampsia or renal disease. It has not been validated for use on pregnant patients. Never adjust medication based on readings, and consult your physician about your own blood pressure.
