Description

The classic two-sided stethoscope for everyday exams

The Littmann Classic III has a two-sided chestpiece with adult and pediatric sides, each with a tunable diaphragm. Light pressure brings out low-frequency sounds and firmer pressure brings out high-frequency sounds without flipping the chestpiece.

It comes with large and small soft-sealing ear tips and a non-chill bell sleeve, and has an adjustable headset with angled ear tubes. The single-lumen tubing is latex-free, phthalate-free, resists skin oils and alcohol, and wipes clean with 70% isopropyl alcohol. It is available in a choice of tubing colours.

Frequently asked questions
How does the tunable diaphragm work?

Press lightly on the chestpiece to hear low-frequency sounds and press a little harder to hear higher-frequency sounds. You do not need to flip the chestpiece to change frequency range.

Is it suitable for adults and children?

Yes. The chestpiece is two-sided: a larger adult side and a smaller pediatric side, each with a tunable diaphragm. The pediatric side can be used as an open bell.

Is it made with latex?

Littmann states the tubing is not made with natural rubber latex and contains no phthalate plasticizers.

How do I clean it?

Littmann says the tubing is easy to clean with 70% isopropyl alcohol and resists skin oils and alcohol, so staining is less likely.

Does it use single or dual-lumen tubing?

Classic III uses single-lumen tubing. Dual-lumen tubing is a feature of the Cardiology IV and Master Cardiology models.

Can I use it near an MRI?

Littmann does not publish an MRI statement for this model on its product page. It has a metal chestpiece, so do not take it into an MRI suite unless your facility says it is cleared.
