Description
Description
McKesson wood tongue depressors, non-sterile, in three lengths
McKesson tongue depressors are flat, single-use wooden sticks used to hold the tongue down when looking at the mouth and throat. They have a smooth finish with rounded edges and come in 4.5 inch infant, 5.5 inch junior and 6 inch senior lengths.
Choose unwrapped depressors in a box or case, or the 6 inch size individually wrapped. Box counts run from 250 to 1,000 depending on the length, and a case holds 10 boxes. McKesson lists them as not made with natural rubber latex.
All options are non-sterile, including the individually wrapped one. They are single use only, so discard each one after a patient. Check the variant you select for its length, wrapping and pack count before ordering, because the count per box changes with the size.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
Are these sterile?
No. They are non-sterile. The individually wrapped option keeps each depressor separate, but it is not sterilized.
Which length should I choose?
4.5 in is the infant size, 5.5 in is the junior size and 6 in is the senior (adult) size. The 6 in size is about 17.5 mm wide.
Are they latex free?
McKesson lists them as not made with natural rubber latex.
Can they be reused?
No. They are single use. Discard after each patient.
What is the difference between box and case?
A box holds the count shown for that length. A case holds 10 boxes, so the 6 in unwrapped case is 5,000 and the 4.5 in case is 10,000.
Are they meant for medical use?
They are examination supplies used to hold the tongue down when viewing the mouth and throat. They are not a treatment.
