Bluetooth body composition scale for home use

The Omron BCM-500 measures body weight along with body fat, visceral fat, skeletal muscle, resting metabolism and BMI. Results sync over Bluetooth to a compatible OMRON app on your smart device.

It stores personal data for up to 4 users and displays weight up to 330 lb. Omron says it is for healthy adults, and not for people with a pacemaker or other implanted device or for pregnant women.

Frequently asked questions
Who is it designed for?

Omron says the BCM-500 is for healthy adults. Body fat percentage is intended for ages 10 to 80, and skeletal muscle, resting metabolism and visceral fat are intended for ages 18 to 80. It is for home use only.

Who should not use it?

Omron says not to use it if you have a cardiac pacemaker, implanted defibrillator or other implanted metallic or electronic device, and that pregnant women should not use it. Use it barefoot, and not when your body or feet are wet.

How do I see my readings on my phone?

Turn on Bluetooth, then use the OMRON compatible app (find it at OmronHealthcare.com/app) and follow its pairing steps. Omron says to use only compatible OMRON apps for correct data transfer.

How many people can use it?

Personal data (birth date, gender, height) is stored for up to 4 people. Each account in the app manages data for one user. A Guest mode is also available.

What batteries does it use?

Four AAA alkaline batteries, which are included. Omron says the supplied batteries are for trial use and may have a shorter life, and that all four should be replaced together.

Does it diagnose anything?

No. The readings are estimates using bioelectrical impedance. Talk to your physician about your own body composition and before starting a weight reduction or exercise program.

What height can it handle?

Height can be set from 3 ft 4 in to 6 ft 6 1/2 in (100 to 199.5 cm). Outside that range, BMI and body composition results are for reference only.
