Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
How do I set it up?
Charge the stethoscope with the included USB-C cable, then install the Eko app on an iPhone or Android phone and create an account to finish setup. The stethoscope connects to the app over Bluetooth.
Does it need a subscription?
The stethoscope works on its own for listening. Some app features, such as detailed AI results, sharing reports and sharing encounters, need a paid Eko+ membership.
How many ECG leads does it have?
It provides 3-lead ECG. The chestpiece has three ECG electrodes next to the stethoscope diaphragm.
How long does the battery last?
Eko states up to 60 hours of regular clinical use on a single charge. A full charge from empty takes about 3 hours with the included USB-C cable and a UL-certified USB wall charger (5V max, not included).
Can I use it on a patient with a pacemaker?
Eko states it can be used safely on patients with pacemakers, but it cannot record the ECG activity of an implanted pacemaker. See the Instructions for Use for all cautions and warnings.
Who is it for, and can it be used on children?
It is designed for clinicians. Eko states the device and app cover pediatric and adult patients, but the Eko AI features are cleared only for adults 18 and older. Eko+ AI is meant for licensed healthcare professionals.
Is it waterproof, and how do I clean it?
It is rated IP44, so it can withstand dust and splashing water. Do not submerge it or autoclave it. Eko says it can be sanitized with 70% isopropyl alcohol.
