The Omron HBF-514C measures weight plus body fat, skeletal muscle, resting metabolism, visceral fat, BMI and body age using hand-to-foot bioelectrical impedance. It stores profiles for up to 4 people.

The memory recalls results from 1, 7, 30 and 90 days ago, and the display covers weights up to 330 lb. Omron says it is not for people with a pacemaker or other implanted device or for pregnant women.

Frequently asked questions
Who is it designed for?

Omron says it is for healthy individuals. Body fat percentage is intended for ages 10 to 80, and skeletal muscle, resting metabolism, body age and visceral fat for ages 18 to 80.

Who should not use it?

Omron says not to use it with a cardiac pacemaker or other implanted medical device, and that pregnant women should not use it. Keep it away from young children because the cord can become entangled.

When can the body fat reading be off?

Omron warns it may differ significantly from actual body fat for elderly people, people with a fever, body builders or highly trained athletes, people on dialysis, people with osteoporosis, people with edema, and children in a growth stage.

How many people can use it?

Up to four personal profiles. Pick a profile number, then step on the platform. Your age, gender and height are entered once per profile.

What does the memory show?

Results from 1 day, 7 days, 30 days and 90 days ago, along with high and low readings for each measurement type, based on up to 97 days of results.

What batteries does it use?

Four AA batteries, which are included. Omron says stored readings and profiles are not erased when you change the batteries.

Does it diagnose anything?

No. Values are estimates from the bioelectrical impedance method. Check with your physician about your own results.
