A clinician-grade upper arm monitor with a wide cuff range
The Welch Allyn ProBP 2000 is a digital upper arm blood pressure monitor made for clinicians and medically qualified personnel. It shows systolic, diastolic and pulse on one display and flags excessive motion.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
Who is this monitor for?
Welch Allyn designs it for clinicians and medically qualified personnel, to measure blood pressure and heart rate in patients 3 years of age or older with arm circumferences of 15 to 55 cm. The manual says the manufacturer's FlexiPort cuffs are needed to cover that whole range.
Does it need a prescription?
The manual states that US federal law restricts the device to sale, distribution or use by or on the order of a physician or licensed healthcare professional.
Which cuff size is included, and can I change it?
The cuff in the box is a FlexiPort REUSE-11 adult cuff. Welch Allyn's manual lists its range as 25 to 34 cm (about 10 to 13 in). Measure your upper arm first. If two cuff sizes fit, the manual says to use the larger one. Other FlexiPort sizes are sold separately and the manufacturer lists them on its ProBP 2000 page.
How do I position the cuff?
Place the cuff on a bare upper arm with the artery marker over the brachial artery, snug enough to allow no more than two fingers. Sit quietly for five minutes, back supported, feet flat on the floor, legs uncrossed, with the arm at heart level and still during the reading. Do not talk during the measurement.
How is it powered?
Four AA alkaline batteries, or the optional Welch Allyn AC adapter. Replace the batteries when the low battery indicator shows, the display dims, or it will not light up. Remove them if the device will sit unused for a while.
Who should not use it?
It is not intended for neonates, infants or children under 3. Its effectiveness has not been established in pregnant or pre-eclamptic patients, and use in those patients is at the clinician's discretion. Do not place the cuff on the arm on the same side as a mastectomy, on arms with an IV, or over damaged skin. The manual also says it has not been evaluated for people with a pacemaker or defibrillator, is not for continuous monitoring in emergencies, and is not for use in MRI.
What if the display shows an error?
E 01 means the cuff is loose, too tight or leaking, so refit the cuff and check the tube for kinks. E 10 or E 11 means motion was detected, so stay still and measure again. If the problem continues, contact Welch Allyn Technical Support.
