Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
Is this a home monitor?
Omron designs the HEM-907XL for clinical use in a professional setting such as a physician's office, hospital or other point of care. Home users who want a self-measure monitor should look at Omron's home models.
What cuff sizes are included?
Four cuffs: small for arms 7 to 9 in, medium 9 to 13 in, large 13 to 17 in and extra-large 17 to 20 in around.
Can it be used with a stethoscope?
Yes. Omron's manual describes a manual mode (MANU) where you place a stethoscope on the arm and listen while the monitor controls cuff pressure. Omron advises confirming readings with the stethoscope when an irregular pulse wave is displayed.
What is average mode?
In average mode (AVG) the monitor takes a series of measurements automatically and averages them. You can set the number of measurements, wait time and interval. Omron's site says it averages up to three readings.
How is it powered?
By the included AC adapter or the rechargeable battery pack. Do not use a broken power cord or AC adapter.
What are the accuracy specs?
Pressure within +/-3 mmHg or 2% of reading, and pulse within +/-5% of reading, per Omron's specification table. Measurement range is 0 to 299 mmHg for pressure and 30 to 199 beats/min for pulse.
What safety limits does Omron give?
Do not use it near a cellular phone or in a vehicle. If it does not perform as indicated, stop using it, turn it off, unplug the AC adapter and contact Omron. If battery fluid contacts your eyes or skin, rinse with water and see a doctor immediately.
