Description
Description
BACtrack S80 breathalyzer, personal breath alcohol tester with fuel cell sensor
The BACtrack S80 is a personal breathalyzer that estimates blood alcohol content (BAC) from a breath sample. It uses an Xtend electrochemical fuel cell sensor and reads 0.000 to 0.500% BAC.
BACtrack states the S80 meets DOT/NHTSA requirements for a personal breath alcohol screening device. It runs on two AA batteries, about 1,500 tests per set, and comes with a hard-shell case and six mouthpieces.
Wait 20 minutes after eating, drinking or smoking before testing, then blow for five seconds after the countdown. The result is an estimate for screening only and cannot determine exact blood alcohol content. It will not test outside 0 to 40 C.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
How do I take a test?
Insert a fresh mouthpiece, press Start, and when the countdown reaches zero and START flashes, blow firmly and continuously for five seconds or until the double beep. Read the estimated BAC on the screen.
How long should I wait after eating, drinking or smoking?
BACtrack says to wait 20 minutes. Testing sooner can give incorrect results and may damage the sensor.
Does it give an exact blood alcohol level?
No. It gives an estimate of BAC from a breath sample and should be used as a screening tool only. It is not a substitute for a legal or medical test.
What do FLO and Out mean?
FLO means the breath sample was too small. Out means no breath was detected within 15 seconds.
What batteries does it use?
Two AA batteries, included. Replace them with two new alkaline AA batteries when the battery indicator is empty.
Does it need recalibration?
BACtrack says all breathalyzers need periodic recalibration. See the manual for details. Recalibration is a separate service.
When can I not test?
The unit will not test outside 0 to 40 C (32 to 104 F).
