Frequently asked questions

What is the KardiaMobile Card intended for?

AliveCor's Indications for Use: the system is intended to record, store and transfer single-channel electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) rhythms, and it displays ECG rhythms and output of analysis from AliveCor's KardiaAI platform, including detecting the presence of normal sinus rhythm, atrial fibrillation, bradycardia, tachycardia, and others. It is intended for use by healthcare professionals, patients with known or suspected heart conditions and health conscious individuals.

Can I use it to diagnose a heart condition?

No. AliveCor's warnings say not to use it to self-diagnose heart related conditions and to consult your physician before making any medical decision. Interpretations are potential findings, not a complete diagnosis, and should be reviewed by a medical professional.

Does it detect a heart attack?

No. AliveCor states KardiaMobile Card does not check for heart attack and does not replace regular checkups with your physician.

Can I use it with a pacemaker or ICD?

No. AliveCor's warnings say not to use it with a cardiac pacemaker, ICDs or other implanted electronic devices.

Is it for children?

No. The device has not been tested for and is not intended for pediatric use.

How do I take a recording?

Open the Kardia app, lay the card on a flat surface near your phone and rest fingers from the left and right hand on the two top electrodes. Hold still for the 30-second countdown. Do not record while driving or during physical activity, and do not record while your phone is charging.

Can I replace the battery?

No. It contains a non-removable, non-replaceable lithium manganese dioxide battery. AliveCor lists an expected service life of 2 years.
