Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
Who is it designed for?
Withings says it is for adults aged 18 and over with an arm circumference of 22 to 42 cm (a separate 40 to 52 cm cuff is sold separately). It is for indoor, home use. It is not for neonates or infants, and not for children unless a medical professional says so.
Do I need a phone?
You need one to set it up (iOS 15 or higher, or Android 9.0 or higher). After that it can sync over Wi-Fi without your phone nearby. Bluetooth sync needs your phone.
Is it FDA cleared?
Withings states on its support site that BPM Vision is FDA-cleared in the U.S. and CE-cleared in the EU.
Who should talk to a doctor first?
Withings says to consult your doctor before use if you have arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation or ventricular premature beats, arteriosclerosis, electrical implants, intravascular therapy, an arteriovenous shunt, a mastectomy, peripheral arterial disease, pregnancy or preeclampsia. If you have a pacemaker or other electric implant, keep at least 6 in (15 cm) between the monitor and the implant.
How long does the battery last?
Withings lists up to 12 months per charge on its US product page. Its product guide gives an expected 6 months under normal use. It charges by USB cable and cannot be opened for battery replacement.
Can it diagnose high blood pressure?
No. Withings says not to use it for diagnosis or treatment, and to ask your physician whether the readings can be used to guide clinical decisions.
How do I check the cuff fits?
The index arrow printed inside the cuff should point between the two OK bars. If the cuff is too small, a larger cuff is sold separately by Withings.
