Frequently asked questions

What is it for?

AUVON's manual says TENS is a non-invasive, drug-free method of pain control used for temporary relief of pain associated with sore and aching muscles in the shoulder, waist, back, neck, arm and leg due to strain from exercise or normal household work activities. It is not for diagnosing anything.

Who should not use it?

The manual lists as prohibited individuals: pregnant women, infants and children; people unable to express their thoughts or operate the device themselves; people prone to internal bleeding after injury or fracture; patients with suspected or confirmed heart disease or epilepsy. It says: 'Do not use this product if you have a implanted defibrillator, cardiac pacemaker, or any other implanted metallic or electronic device.' If unsure, consult your doctor first.

Where must I not place the pads?

Not on any part of the head or face, the throat and its vicinity (can cause severe muscle spasms and lead to choking), the heart and its vicinity or genital area, open wounds or rash, swollen, red, infected or inflamed skin, sites on or near cancerous lesions, or skin that lacks normal sensation. Do not use pads on both sides of the chest or through the chest, or on both calves or the bottoms of both legs at the same time, because current may cause heart rhythm disorders.

When must I not use it?

Not while charging, in the shower or bath, sleeping, driving or operating machines, or exercising. Do not use it with a broken wire, damaged connection port, or worn, deformed or non-sticking pads.

How strong should I set it?

There are 20 intensity levels. For first use set it between 1 and 3. If it feels weak after 1 to 2 minutes, increase gradually. Intensity resets to the lowest setting each time you change mode.

How long and how often?

The manual recommends 20 to 30 minutes per area, 1 to 2 times a day, and no more than 30 minutes per area at a time. Stop when pain is relieved. The timer is adjustable from 10 to 60 minutes. If skin becomes irritated, stop and consult your doctor.

How do I charge it and make pads last?

Charge with the USB-C cable for about 2 to 3 hours; charge at least every 3 months if not used regularly. Store pads sealed at 5 to 35 C (41 to 95 F), keep the gel clean, and replace pads when the gel is damaged, melting or not sticking.
