Cellular RPM Devices for Remote Patient Monitoring
Cellular RPM devices are blood pressure monitors, weight scales, glucose meters, pulse oximeters and other health devices with a built-in cellular (4G LTE) connection. Cellular RPM devices have a built-in cellular (LTE) modem. When the patient takes a reading, the device sends it automatically over the cellular network to the remote monitoring platform it is activated on. No Wi-Fi, smartphone, app or Bluetooth pairing is needed.
That makes cellular remote monitoring the simplest setup for patients who don't have Wi-Fi, don't own a smartphone, or don't want to deal with apps. Below you'll find every cellular RPM device we carry, how cellular monitoring works, and how clinics can buy in bulk.
How cellular remote monitoring works
- The patient takes a reading the same way as on any home device: put on the cuff, step on the scale, or insert a test strip.
- The device sends it over the cellular network. The built-in LTE modem transmits the reading, usually with the date and time, to the remote monitoring platform the device is activated on.
- The care team sees the reading. Clinicians review readings in their RPM platform, such as Impilo, and follow up as needed.
- Nothing to pair or charge on a phone. There is no Wi-Fi password, Bluetooth pairing or app login for the patient to manage.
Cellular devices are activated on a monitoring platform, and the monitoring service is arranged separately from the device. If you're not sure how a device will be activated for your program, contact us before you order.

Cellular vs. Bluetooth RPM devices
Bluetooth devices send readings through a paired phone or tablet. With the Impilo app, Bluetooth readings sync through Apple Health or Google. Cellular devices skip the phone entirely. Frequently asked questions
What is a cellular RPM device?
A cellular RPM device is a remote patient monitoring device, such as a blood pressure monitor or scale, with a built-in cellular modem. It sends each reading automatically over the cellular network, so the patient doesn't need Wi-Fi, a smartphone or an app.
Do cellular RPM devices need Wi-Fi or a smartphone?
No. Cellular devices send readings over the cellular network on their own. There is no Wi-Fi setup, Bluetooth pairing or app for the patient.
Where do readings from a cellular device go?
Readings go to the remote monitoring platform the device is activated on, where the care team can review them. The monitoring service is arranged separately from the device.
Which cellular devices do you carry?
We carry cellular blood pressure monitors, weight scales, glucose meters, pulse oximeters, a thermometer, a peak flow meter, a sleep monitor mat and RPM kits from Smart Meter, Telli Health, Bioland, Transtek, A&D, FORA, iGlucose and BerryMed.
Are cellular or Bluetooth RPM devices better?
Cellular devices are usually easier for patients because nothing has to be paired or kept connected to a phone. Bluetooth devices can cost less and work well for patients who already use a smartphone every day.
Can clinics buy cellular RPM devices in bulk?
Yes. Clinics and RPM programs get discounts on orders over $500, tax-exempt purchasing and access to our business portal with inventory management software. Contact sales@thedigitalhealthstore.com.
